This was a great intro, Kirsten. I think I came to your Substack near the end of the Tolkien era, so I'm glad to hear where you've been and where you are aiming for in your journey. Carry on, pilgrim, in your learning and unlearning!
Yes, I came somewhere in the Tolkien era but I actually found you through your prolific public writing around 2021-2022. Sometimes I find someone through those publications and find I’ve gotten a sense of how they think and will then read everything they write. 😂
Anyone who is inspired to start a Substack because of Tolkien LOTR is someone who has thoughts beyond that particular subject I’m interested in. Keep up the good work!
As someone who showed up after your Tolkien era, my main reaction is “Wait, there’s Tolkien on this Substack? For free?” And now I shall go ahead and probably read through your entire archives. But, in the meantime, carry on! I appreciate your writing and hope to be a positive addition to your comment section where appropriate.
I’m the strange one who came around because of your Lindbeck work, who has always fascinated and befuddled me. Looking forward to your book, and I’m grateful for your words in service to the church.
Thanks for the info and would love to hear more about your PhD studies, Tolkien, and Lindbeck work. I’m here for all of it and looking forward to reading more of your words!
My husband just completed LOTR for the first time since grade school, but I have yet to read. Maybe I’ll revisit those essays if I get around to reading Tolkien!

I made myself stop pitching this year while I write my book. I love writing articles 😇 but it’s like candy

I’ll follow you anywhere, Tolkien or not.
