It’s true that the real danger of AI is not some dystopian world where robots take over and control us, but a world where humanity loses its who-ness and is replaced by pursuit of an ascending “what-ness”. Reminds me of neo learning how to fly a helicopter via a computer program. If we see humanistic progress as better knowledge acquisition or better data compiling and organization, we lose wisdom, virtue, holiness, compassion, humility, and a host of other human qualities that AI can never “learn”. You can’t learn these things in the LLM sense because they have to do with who you are and not what you are.
