I noticed your name out there so much this year, in many of these publications! Way to keep at it. The first place I found you & your writing was back with "Tethered Still" published at Mere Orthodoxy a couple years ago... and have looked up to you via much of your writing. Currently, I'm home with 3 children under 3, and I'm doing my best to keep that intellectual flame going as I'm able. Thanks for sharing your work with us — especially the mothers. :)
I promise if you hang on to even one book a year, while you are doing the deep good loving work of mothering young children- you will be nurtured by that book, it will help you make sense of your longings, and you will never regret for a minute how you honored the presence of these little people in your life. Someday you will drop the youngest at school and cry in your car, for how you miss their little bodies in the backseat. Trust me. :-)
And pick up In This House of Brede, by Rumer Godden, if you haven't read it!
I believe I’ve heard Jessica Hooten Wilson recommend that one, as well!
I’m a newish reader and have loved your substack essays.
